Outreach Opportunities
Prison Ministry
“... when I was in prison, you visited me...” Matthew 25:34
Currently the Prison ministry team goes into the local prisons in the Virginia area to do weekly bible studies, Sunday Worship services and weekly mentoring. The mission of the ministry is to reach the “untouchables” (those whom everyone else has given up on) with the love of Christ through the preached, taught, read, studied, and practically applied Word of God. As we all know, only His applied word can change lives and bring about true rehabilitation.
Project Isaiah 58
This ministry provides support for those familiar with all types of addictions. It meets on a weekly basis in the conference room. There are weekly meetings in other localities as well. For more information you may contact the church office at 540-349-0178.
Missions and Outreach Evangelism
The Lord founded the church as a missionary organization. The leaders of the New Testament church were missionaries. The church was not, and is not, an ecclesiastical organization that has the option of developing an evangelism department. Evangelism is not an optional extra; it is the reason for the church’s existence. Propagation of the gospel is central to God’s heart and thinking. The church is God’s seed-bed for propagating the good news community-wide and worldwide. For more information about Evangelism please contact Pastor John Moore.
The concept that only some people are called to missionary work is not Biblical. Christ said in Mark 16:15 “Go into the entire world and preach the good news to all creation.” Some believers impact the local community; others, their home county; and still others are called to international missions. Some people make a difference through their secular employment and some serve in full-time Christian work.
There are several facets of the vision, the goals statement, for this local church body. Central to this set of tasks is the understanding that our efforts would have worldwide impact, and that the gospel message of Jesus Christ would reach around the world through this local ministry. We are to be utilized in areas of restoration and reconciliation, to be a refreshing place for ministries and personnel to be trained and equipped, and sent to various parts of the world to preach the gospel message of Jesus Christ.
On a monthly basis, this church financially supports a variety of ongoing local, national and international mission outreach efforts. The various organizations that FCCIOC supports range in function from information centers for women in crisis (Care Net Crisis Pregnancy Centers), emergency medical relief teams (CERT International), and leper communities (Bethesda Leprosy Church), to evangelistic national and international organizations.
Approximately 20 countries have been impacted in the last several years by either mission support of this fellowship or actually having had people sent overseas to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. For more about missions please contact the church office.
Operation Hugs
Operation Hugs is an evangelical high energy program that teaches children the value of morality, positive decision making – behavior modification and self esteem through the love and teaching of Christ. The focal point is initially children and then their parents. The program is presented from a trailer which has its own stage, power and PA systems. It includes praise songs, games, scripture memorization and the teaching of biblical truth and principles. The program is approximately one hour in length and concludes with team workers who are available to pray with children and parents as desired. God has provided for this ministry a trailer fully equipped which allows complete mobility to enter any community He would open to us. For more information, contact Pastor John Moore or Jean Potter at the church office at 540-349-0178.
